Newspaper Pots

Follow these instructions and make your own newspaper plant pots.

These pots are ideal for starting seeds, or for rooting cuttings.

Step 1

Take a sheet of newspaper approx 12″ square and fold it in half, then fold it in half lengthways again. You should now have a strip of paper. Place your food can on the paper.

Fold the paper up the sides of the can like this -

Trim the paper to size if you need to.

Step 3

Now take another sheet of paper,this piece should be larger than the first one you used.
Fold it in half, then in half again. You should have a strip of paper wider than the first one.
Place your can with the 1st newspaper strip onto the edge of this 2nd strip and roll it up.

Step 4

Slide the can out of the paper tube. You may need to wiggle it a little bit.

Fold the paper at the top of the pot over towards the middle. Make the fold about an inch or so from the top. Your pot is now secure.

Fill the pot with soil and plant a seed or a cutting.
